The Public Health Leadership Academy brings county elected officials and public-health leaders into one learning experience. The materials had to explain complex systems, guide candid team conversations and keep every county moving toward a practical action plan.

The publication’s pacing mirrors the curriculum: establish a shared language, understand how county decisions shape health, build cross-sector partnerships and translate that work into a public-health value proposition.
Information becomes instruction

Diagrams do more than decorate the curriculum. They establish mental models participants can return to throughout the Academy—connecting community conditions, county authority and the role of public health.
From curriculum to commitment
The final deliverable belongs to the county.
The system culminates in a County Action Plan. Teams define a priority, name partners, choose measurable steps, assign accountability and establish a timeline—turning a national Academy into specific local work.
Supporting materials
The same structure carries into continued use.
Virtual-session exercises and a concise resource guide extend the curriculum without pretending every format is a separate centerpiece.
